Canada Visa Application: Easy Working Guide

Not many people need a visa to enter Canada, for the majority who does this article will explain the requirements to apply for a Canadian Visa, How long the process takes, the amount you are required to pay, and then what the interview looks like. So, if you are from countries such as the U.S., Australia, Denmark, Japan, Norway, Taiwan, Austria, Estonia, South Korea, Poland, Ukraine, Belgium, France, Latvia, Slovakia, United Kingdom, and so on, then you do not need a visa to Canada, otherwise, you are required to have a Canadian visa to legally enter Canada.

Now, the type of visa you are going to receive will depend on the purpose in the country and the duration. So, if you are coming to Canada to study, then you need a student visa. However, if you are coming to visit, then you’d require a visitor visa. Whichever visa you are applying for, you will need to have the following documents and pay the required fees for the visa processing.

  • Show Proof of financial means.
  • Provide a letter that clearly states the purpose of your visit or travel to Canada.
  • Passport photograph that meets the requirement for a Canada visa
  • Identity and Civil Status Documents
  • You will also need to show proof that you’d return to your home country when your visa expires.
  • Medical Report


Applicants should also be above the age of 18 years to be considered an adult. Those below the age will be considered as minors and must be attached as the dependents


You should have a valid passport and other supporting travel documents when you apply for a Canadian Visa. You also need to provide photocopies of the document page that shows the passport number, the expiry and issued date, and other personal information such as name, photo, place of birth, and date of birth.

Proof of Funds or Financial Means

Whatever your purpose for visiting Canada, you will need to provide proof of financial support from a family member or guardian, or you show that you are financially capable to support yourself in Canada during your stay. The accepted documents are a bank statement, annual earnings report from an employer, Proof of arranged funds from friends or family members to cover the duration of your stay, or proof of income of your Canadian host or family member.

Proof to show you will return to your home country

The visa officer is particularly concerned with whether you are willing or able to return to your home country after your visa expires. You will need to provide proof such as Proof of employment, Property ownership document in your home country, or family ties in your country and people you care about like children, wives, and elderly family members.

Police Clearance and Medical Exam

As proof that you are not a danger to the residents of Canada, you will need to prove that you are not a criminal, and you have no medical issues that could harm or infect anybody. To prove this, you will need to provide a police clearance and a medical result or a report from a recognized institution.

For your interview, you are expected to through two screening exercises and you can make the process a lot faster if you have all your documents complete and arranged in an orderly. For the first interview, an officer will ask you for your documents like your passport, health, and others.

The basic questions will basically be related to the documents you have. Questions like how long do you plan to stay in Canada? Are you healthy and so on? The second interview will be to declare what you will be bringing with you to Canada. You will have to provide a list of goods you are bringing with you and the ones that will be arriving later.
